Evaluation of Christmas Photos

This photo is poor due to the framing. I have not taken the photo close enough so it allows the rest of the room to be included. The reason I went for this background is because the red on the background matches the female model's jumper and hat.

I believe the second photo is one of the better ones I took due to the model breaking conventions by not looking directly into the camera. However, the white stripes of the model don't really match the theme of red.

However, the third photo is not one of my best due to the poor framing of the shot. There is a little bird at the bottom of the shot but due to the framing you can only see half of it.

Evaluation of Photos

I believe these photos are of a good standard as they are all clear and precise images, the first photo is good because of the long view you get of the corridor. The second photo is good because of the clear skies and composition of the photo. Finally, the third photo is good because of the lighting and the composition.

However, these three photos are bad due to poor composition and positioning. For example, you can see my arm in the first photo. In the future I must position myself better in order to take a better photo. In the second photo there is a crescent of light across the wall, this ruins the shot and in future I must position myself better to make sure there is no light obstructing the photo. Finally, in the third photo its not clear and very blurry, in future I must wait for the camera to focus in order to obtain the best shot.

Shelter Charity

Layout: 

The layout of the website suggests that the colour red is a key component to this charity, as the girls in the photo are wearing red at the top of the homepage. The logo is also red and so are the links on top are the rest of the links on the site, this presents a clear theme of red. This may represent the love they have for the charity or the danger that homeless people are in on a daily basis. Also, there are two young girls on the homepage which may suggest that they are volunteering as most young people don't have much money to donate.

What they do: 

The fact that the "help people" is in the colour red continues the theme of red. Also it helps it stand out from the rest of the white age. This page also helps people who don't know anything about the charity to inform them of what they do.

   

Mission statement: This mission statement fully reflects what the charity is trying to do. It is also red to match the theme of the website.

Textual analysis of a magazine front cover

 The Strap line is usually based at the top of the magazine and usually just above the masthead but in this magazine it's laced over the "V" in Vogue.

The model's name is in a large font as she is very famous after the Harry Potter franchise and has lots of fans and as she has had her appearance changed it may be difficult to recognise her.

Emma Watson's lip colour corresponds with the masthead, the colour of her name and the bracelets she has on. Her lips will be the main attraction which will attract more male readers to this predominantly female targeted magazine.

The main colour scheme to this front cover is burgundy, as this is a rather feminine colour it may encourage females to buy it more than men.

The masthead of the magazine is large and bold to catch the reader's eye, it also matches the colour scheme of red/burgundy.

The main image is a medium close up shot. It takes up large amounts of the page, the bright colours are used to catch the reader's eye and to make it stand out on the shelf. Emma Watson is also looking directly into the camera in quite a voyeuristic way. She also has her arms close to her body suggesting innocence and defencelessness.

The cover line reads "the only bag you'll need this season" this may attract a female target audience that are subscribers of vogue magazine.
